Project OverLoad 1st Grade- Kindergarten

So the 1st graders and Kindergarten class have been heavy into Chinese culture. I have to say I had a great time with these projects and I learned a lot about Chinese culture also. I had to do research to make sure I was teaching the correct information. I am super impressed with the work my students have turn in this nine weeks. I think I did a better job teaching it then last year.

We made the Chinese scrolls again in 1st grade. This time we used watercolor paper. I like it so much better.

In first grade we also made the cherry blossoms. This project is quick and my students love blowing the paint through the straws.

The Kindergartners are learning about Chinese Dragons and symbols.

Projects Overload 2nd Grade

The month of February has been busy for me. I have had something event wise, to do almost every weekend and thing to go to through out the week. So here is an update on the projects
So the 2nd Graders are weaving! Yea! This worked well with them last year so I decided to do it again this year. I changed the projects to give them more structure in the process.
So we start off with two paper weavings before we break out the Loom and yarn.

We use some ancient Mexican Motifs for the design. I was going for the patterned design. It was a hit and miss some students got it and some others not so much. My main goal was to make sure the understood the weaving process and how to do it on their own.

Project Overload - 4th grade

Fourth Grade is learning about Ancient Greece. I did a power point presentation. We took a test. We have been working on creating Greek Vases. They completed a Greek Vase packet and then drew and colored a Greek Vase with oil pastels. Afterwards they painted over their vases with black paint mixture.Once they are dry they can scratch their designs on the board.

Youth Art Month

So we are literally 2 days away from Youth Art Month and I have been preparing for our annual art show for the public Library. Every Public Elementary school displays work through out the whole Library. It is awesome to see other student's works from other schools. I have been pulling work for two weeks. Heeheheh trying to get students to finish up so that maybe I could use their work.
I am also getting ready for our school art show. This is my first one! So I am nervous and excited about it!!
