Oh how I love scratch art

Second grade scratch art part 1

So after we did this project with crayons, we broke out the oil pastels for the next one. They then had to scratch in the zentangled designs we have been practicing

So after that we moved on to the boards. We use the oil pastels and then painted the black tempera paint over the boards ( a mixture of black tempera paint, liquid starch and dish washing liquid)

Then we scratch in a simple 3D design I showed them and we practiced for a class period.

Finished art work soon to come!

City scapes

So to further enforces the idea of symmetry i decided to do a city scape reflections project. I would like to say I am so awesome and I came up with the idea myself, but I must give credit where credit is due PINTERST!!!!  There tons of ways to do this lesson. I made this a one class time project.
I have to say they did a great job!!! I even put some of them in an upcoming art show.
 These are my mine.

To see more of these city scape reflections view the sabal palm art gallery on artsonia.

Student work

Some times, well all the times, the students bring in work that they have done at home. They even redo something we have done in class which I just adore.

Happy birthday

One of the things I love about teaching, especially art are the students. When it is your birthday they go all out. My birthday was last Wednesday. ( HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME) What a blessing to see another birthday.  So when I got to school the 2nd graders stood in a line and sang happy birthday to me outside my door. You know I love it. Then I received cards all day. Ahhhhh being a teacher is pretty nice.
