I always enjoy the designs the students put down for their first layer.
This year I used oil pastel instead crayons for the first layer. This worked way better. Oil pastel is more resistant to the paint.Friday, December 6, 2013
Scratch art part two
I like the scratch art projects. The students enjoy being able to make their scratchboards. I always do this project in parts. In each part the process gets a little easier.

Pop out Shapes
Fourth grade has also been working on their own perspective drawing. They have been using rulers and learning about vanishing points ( along with Fifth grade) and how to make shapes appear 3D by popping of a 2D plane.
5th grade perspective drawings
So my 5th graders have been working on their perspective drawings for what seems like forever. It's not totally on them, it's a little of me also. I decided to let them practice a little longer then I have in the past. I am glad I did this, because I can see how the long some of them work on their work the better they have been getting. We are starting to get to the painting part of the project so I think most of them will be painting next week.
Yes we practiced a lot

Art around Town
Some Saturdays ago, mom and I took my niece around town to look for some clothes ( that's what aunties and grandmas do) Lo, and behold we stumble upon a street mural. How is it that I knew nothing about this and it was so close to the house. It was on the news and it was a project that some college students completed. It was neat to see this art in the middle of the street.
Public Library
Here in our county they allow art teachers opportunities to display student work in different public and government buildings. Probably more if we asked nicely. For the months of November and December I have a space in the public Library where I have my students art work. It's kinda exciting for the students because they visit that place very often.
Hello Prospective Projects
So what was I thinking to let the whole month of November pass and not make any post. Shame on Miss Cofield. Well let me get right into it. All of my primary classes have finished their perspective projects. Whoo Hooo. On these projects I let the students use the liquid water color I made from a whole lot of dried out markers. We tried to do some crayon resist.
So when uploading these it did not matter which way I rotated it , it still decides to upload this way
Anyways These are some of the finished kindergarten Work. If you want to see all of their work just go to Artsonia and view our Sabal Palm gallery
